2007 Road Trip Adventures – Day 3

PORTLAND – a big city adventure – –

Tuesday – – – as I said yesterday, I was going to spend the day with Chris but she could not make it so we decided to go into Kylie’s work at Longview. Will walk around and look at the town and have lunch, then we can come home after Kylie finishes work.

Sounds good and I am looking forward to the walk.  So off we go and we are nearly at Kylie’s work but – Chris has changed her mind.

So Kylie is going to have to take me all the way back to St Helens and drop me back at Chris’ place. An interesting start to the day to say the least!  Kylie dropped me off and went back to work so Chris and I head off for a drive around St Helens and then we have some brunch at Sunshine Pizza where Tyler works.

Have a plate of salad and a huge slice of pizza with salami, Canadian bacon, olives, capsicum, onion and cheese. It was delicious to say the least – though hardly Weight Watchers diet.

We then head off to Portland for a look around.

A lovely city – very green with lots of parks.

In the parks are statues of famous American Presidents Abraham Lincoln & Teddy Roosevelt.

Chris suggests we visit the Oregon Historical Museum where we see lots of very interesting displays about the Native Americans and the Oregon Trail, which we will be on in a couple of days!

There is also a display of famous sporting memorabilia.  A very interesting place with lots of stories to tell.

Another exhibition is on the Miss Portland Pageant with photos of all the past and current beauty queens.  We spend about 2 hours here.  Get a chance to buy some souvenirs and by about 3.30pm it is time to head back home.

Highlight of the day: The Native American display at the museum.
